I registered for this course using a very favourable voucher from Social Deal. While I liked the dialogues introducing each section and the grammar notes, I was quite disappointed with the exercises. It was all about memorising fixed phrases from the dialogue and the exact translation, because the website wouldn't allow for the slightest alternative translation, as equally valid as it may be (sometimes it would even flag my answer as wrong, because I typed an extra symbol like "_" by mistake). To me, you really start learning a new language when you have space to explore and try alternatives; I mean, I find Duolingo more effective in this, and that is a free app. Sometimes the exercises even involved questions, the answer to which was not to be found anywhere in the text. I have to be honest that this is my first experience with an online language course, so I cannot really compare to similar experiences. Overall, I would never spend the full amount for such a course.

For every sentence, several translations are approved but most likely we didn’t think of all the translations possible. You can, however, send us a message and have your alternative translation checked by our German teacher. If it’s correct, we add it to the list of approved translations.
