I was in Paris when your exhibit opened, and although I couldn't attend in person, I was thrilled to be able to order the Van Gogh in Auvers book online! I also flew through the Amsterdam Airport on my way home, and although I didn't have time to visit the museum shop in the airport (wonderful idea, by the way), I did pick up a few small Van Gogh souvenirs in one of the gift shops. Once I returned home, I spent time on your website, and I think the wealth of information you provide about the exhibits at the Museum is astounding; I know I'll return to it many times. The book, of course, is incredible, and I'm very happy to have such a treasured, detailed, scholarly description of Van Gogh's life and his experiences in Auvers. With the addition of the wonderfully large collection of colour plates, I will be able to visit the exhibition that I missed over and over again. Thank you for all of your wonderful services; I hope to visit the Museum in person someday.
Improvements or suggestions
The book I ordered was to be delivered by DHL, and all went smoothly, including a very quick projected delivery time, until there was an exception. DHL told me that there wasn't sufficient documentation of the contents of the package to allow it to be transported internationally. I wrote to the museum to ask if they could forward the information to the shipper, but received no answer. Finally, I sent a copy of my receipt to DHL. They agreed that this was sufficient, and the package came through without further delay. It was handled quite roughly in transit, so the box was a bit battered, especially on one corner, but your packaging is so cleverly designed that the book was in pristine condition when I opened it, and I must say that I loved the overall design of Van Gogh's cherry blossoms on the outside of the package!
