Extremely disappointed with the very high costs for the product to reach the destination, which were not informed at the time of purchase, causing a huge loss.

Inform the TOTAL cost of delivery of the product.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear the policies for importing goods to your country weren’t clear. Orders placed to countries outside the EU are VAT free and do not include 21% EU VAT. However, upon arrival at customs, the shipment may be charged with import duties & other additional taxes. We do make a note about these import costs during checkout, so customers are aware about these additional costs, because especially to South American countries the import duty fees can be extremely high, about 100% of the total order value.

I had a very good time buying from the Van Gogh Museum - the items were beautiful, well constructed, and a delight to receive. My order was processed promptly. My issues, however, are with the shipping company used - DRL. I ordered two glass ornaments from the Museum, and thankfully they were very well packaged, because the box, when it arrived, was very badly damaged and smushed. I genuinely expected to open it and find only shards of glass. In addition, I was charged exorbitant customs "duties" by DRL that totalled more than both the cost of the items themselves and the shipping I paid to the Van Gogh Museum. I was unable to self-clear customs because DRL would not ship them to Canada until I paid their fees. It made the experience very negative.

Improvements or suggestions

Please do not use DRL to ship items. Knowing that I may have to deal with DRL makes me hesitant to shop with the Van Gogh Museum again.

If you can send us the invoice, we are happy to take a closer look at the costs to see if they are correct.
