Een hele fijne cursus. Veel geleerd in een korte tijd. De online sessies waren heel leuk, dit is zeker te danken aan de goede docent! De cursus vond ik erg interessant. David is ook een goede leraar die dingen duidelijk uit kan leggen. Wel was hij af en toe wat ongeorganiseerd. Daar zit nog een verbeterpuntje.

The peer...I think that the weekly deadlines to submit written sections of our article were highly useful. They provided a clear goal and enabled me to apply the principles taught during the course. The peer feedback from participants outside of my field also offered a novel perspective on my work, pushing me to explicitly clarify many aspects previously left implicit. I feel that the course could be improved by tailoring the assignments to the needs of the participants. We were each required to write all the sections of a scientific article, even though we were at different stages of our research. I had not even begun data collection but was asked to write a hypothetical discussion and abstract. This time probably could have been better spent redrafting my introduction and methods sections. If participants are required to write each section, this should be stated clearly in the course description prior to enrollment.

Ook het tekstboek was goed. Inhoud van de cursus was erg nuttig, maar ik denk dat dezelfde hoeveelheid stof in minder cursusdagen gegeven had kunnen worden. Daarnaast was er wel heel erg veel huiswerk, zeker voor als je er al een fulltime baan naast hebt. Het was een beetje overweldigend en kwam de kwaliteit van het ingeleverde huiswerk niet ten goede. Daarnaast was de cursus een beetje chaotisch opgezet en was het vaak niet duidelijk wat er van ons verwacht werd. Ik had ook graag wat meer feedback momenten gehad met de trainer, nu moesten wij zelf heel veel feedback geven aan medecursisten, maar werd niet al het ingeleverde werk door de trainer bekeken en beoordeeld, dat was jammer. Maar over het algemeen algemeen zeker een leuke en nuttige cursus!

David is een fijne docent en neemt de tijd voor feedback en tips. Zelfs via het online lesgeven, geeft hij deelnemers persoonlijke aandacht. Zelfs via het online lesgeven, geeft hij deelnemers persoonlijke aandacht. Enige tip die ik zou willen meegeven, is dat er soms veel tijd werd vrijgemaakt om aan peer feedback te werken. Persoonlijk doe ik dat liever op m'n gemak en niet voor de camera tijdens Zoom meeting. Dit kan natuurlijk ook een gevolg zijn van het online lesgeven.

I have done a bachelor in UK, which one module was Academic Skills. Therefore, the content was not new for me. Having students from different backgrounds and studies, it is difficult to find a common line. I experienced that some content was basic, and not necessary to know, to spend time on it. Still, perhaps for other students would need to go through it.

During the course I had the chance to develop my critical and writing skills. Indeed the course content embrace all aspects of writing, grammatical, stylistic and structural. I believe this course should be mandatory for every non-native English speaker dealing with scientific writing and I would strongly suggest it to anyone.
